Welcome + My Motivations For Making This Blog

Hi! If you are reading this then I would like to welcome you to my humble little blog! I don’t want to get too in depth about who I am in this post (because I would rather save it for my About Me tab in my header!) but here is some basic information about me:

I am a 25 year old woman living in Hawaii with a degree in Studio Art. I’ve been an artist for as long as I can remember and my love for the arts was never restricted to just drawing/painting. I love music, video games, writing, dance, photography and basically any outlet for creativity and expression that you can think of. In recent years, one of my favorite hobbies has been reading and recommending books to people! My friends usually shake their fist at me because I convince them to fall in love with more and more books and essentially bleed their wallets dry.

I wasn’t always a reader, though. There were huge chunks of my life where I didn’t pick up a book at all unless I was required to read it for school. Before I turned 18, the last thing I had read for fun was the Twilight series as a middle schooler (I know, I know). As a child, I would get excited about Scholastic Book Fairs like everyone else but my love of reading didn’t fully blossom until I took AP Language & Composition and AP Literature in high school. Ever since that period of my life, I have had an unquenchable appetite when it comes to reading books. If you check out my Goodreads, you’ll see that I have over 100 books in my “Want to Read” shelf and that number continues to grow daily. I spend a lot of time on Goodreads, Reddit or book forums looking for the next big thing that piques my interest.

As for why I decided to make this blog: About a year or two ago I started watching videos by Booktubers which really fueled the fire in me to want to start making a blog or a youtube channel dedicated to books. The thing holding me back was that I had no idea where to start. It wasn’t until March 9th 2019 when I randomly received a package from Macmillan/Flat Iron Books containing an ARC for a book called The Guest Book by Sarah Blake that I decided I should finally start something.

I still have no idea why it was sent to me of all people but I am incredibly grateful that it was and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this blog or how far I will get with my future reviews. I hope you’ll join me for the ride!
